Day Three had several unexpected "events" occur...the first being a chilly marine layer that came onshore which forced the ladies to put on sweaters....hence the clouds in the photos. We did get to Stanley Park early...in fact too early for anything much to be open...I never thought that a gift shop would not open until 11:00 am on a holiday weekend? Our first stop was at the totem pole display.
As we drove around the seawall, we stopped at look-out spots
for views of Vancouver and the Lion's Gate Bridge which links the city to North
and West Vancouver.
Unfortunately, a stop at the Tea House was a no-go as it was booked for a private wedding reception...so we decided to head for downtown and check out the waterfront...our first site was the 2010 Winter Olympics flame cauldron in the large plaza where the medals were presented.
Then the last unexpected event occurred....near the plaza,
we came upon the start of a charity auto rally with some of the most expensive
cars I have ever seen!
Even a Rolls Royce!
You can take a Sea Plane harbour tour... $150 for 30
minutes...that is Stanley Park in the background.
After lunch we walked along the waterfront and arrived at
Canada Place which is the cruise ship terminal. Alas...there will be no ship
leaving tomorrow for Hawaii...so it’s now on to Alberta!
